Lawyers advise clients on resolving legal issues in ways that are ethical and principled. If you have good oral and written communication skills, and can work under pressure and deal with a variety of people, this may very well be the career for you.

Student Work

In legal studies you'll navigate the Australian and International legal system, study Australian consumer law in depth and learn how to identify unfair contracts, negotiate solutions with suppliers or manufacturers and pursue claims in a tribunal or court.

Get a concentrated understanding of Criminal Law and your individual rights and responsibilities. Guest speakers highlight the diversity of legal careers and give you the opportunity to ask about life at the coal face of a career in law. Tours of the Local, District and Supreme Court also help you understand the practical realities of a life in the law.

Year 11 subjects

Choosing the right subjects in year 11 provides a good foundation for your further study. If you want to study law right out of high school then a good ATAR is essential.

Legal Studies will provide a good basis for learning about law while Business Studies gives you an understanding of how business operates. Mathematics and extension subjects should also be high on your list to consider.
