Lights, Camera, Action, Edit!
Lights, camera, action… edit! This week, the Camera team joined forces with the Editing team, combining their skills. The Camera crew focuses on capturing strong visuals. Editing gives those clips structure and meaning, helping shape the Project into something ready to present. As both teams work like two peas in a pod, their collaboration is becoming an important part of bringing the final vision to life.
Pose for the Camera
A major focus this week has been creating a 40-second reel for the gallery walk, with the Camera team sorting through footage and selecting the strongest clips to work alongside the Editing team. Marli, one of the students working in Camera, explained that much of their attention has been on refining underwater footage, saying they were “working on the editing of all the clips that we’ve used in cameras,” especially by using underwater shots and aiming for “a perfect clean-cut reel for the project.”
Although editing can sometimes be difficult, Marli believes teamwork has made the process much easier. She shared that while camera work has brought challenges, working in a supportive group means “we overcome all of the problems together,” making it easier to deal with setbacks as they happen.
Amy also described the task of building the reel, explaining that the team has been “sorting through all the files and finding all the footage” they want to include. With a large amount of content collected, choosing the best moments has become one of the key challenges of the week.
Despite the hard work, both students are looking forward to seeing the final result. Marli said she is excited for Project Week because all teams will come together and “see all their work,” while Amy simply added that she is excited to see what the project turns out like.
Behind the Lens
Teamwork is one of the most important parts of the Project, especially during tasks and weeks like this. As students in Camera and Editing experiment with different lenses and film artefacts such as leaves, rocks, and fossils, they are learning to rely on each other’s ideas and strengths to improve each shot. Marli highlighted this by saying that “working with such a great team is a really good thing to do for the project,” showing how much collaboration has supported their progress.
Although some challenges have arisen, the group continues to support one another and solve problems together. With filming and editing happening side by side, their teamwork is helping shape a project many are eager to see.
