Comms - Reflecting on the Term
The Communications group has emerged as a vital component of the Year 11 Australian Museum Project, operating behind the scenes to unify everyone's contributions and advancements. While other teams concentrate on design, research, and production, the Comms team assumes the role of storytellers chronicling the Project's evolution.
What Comms Does
In recent weeks, Comms students have engaged in interviews with various groups, including those focused on art, fashion, and research. These interactions have gone beyond simple question-and-answer exchanges. They have involved crafting thoughtful inquiries, actively listening, and converting responses into engaging narratives.
The group has experimented with diverse communication methods to present the Project to a broader audience ranging from writing articles to exploring poetry and creating social media content.
Challenges
The process has presented its share of difficulties. A significant challenge for the Comms team has been obtaining consistent information from all participants. Each group operates at different paces and emphasizes distinct aspects of the Project, making it challenging to stay updated on developments.
Interviews were occasionally rescheduled or yielded unclear answers, requiring students to follow up or modify their writing accordingly. Nevertheless, these obstacles have fostered essential skills such as adaptability, communication, and collaboration within the team.
Putting it Together
Another crucial aspect of their work involves editing and refining their outputs. Following information collection, Comms students collaborate to transform initial notes into polished pieces.
This entails organizing articles effectively, selecting an appropriate tone, and ensuring that their writing resonates with a Year 11 student's voice while remaining informative and engaging.
The process is collaborative in nature, with students providing constructive feedback to enhance each other's work overtime.
Finding Fullfilment
Despite facing challenges, the experience has proven fulfilling for many members of the Comms group. They have discovered a fondness for the creative autonomy inherent in this role.
In contrast to more rigid tasks, they can explore various writing styles and formats from formal reports to more personal expressions like poetry.
Additionally, they gain a unique viewpoint of the entire project by interacting with every group and observing how all components integrate seamlessly.
Bringing Stories Together
In summary, the Comms group serves an essential function within the Australian Museum Project. They do not merely document progress, they also influence how the Project is perceived and communicated.
Through interviews, writing endeavours, and teamwork efforts, they weave individual contributions into a cohesive narrative that showcases both achievements and challenges encountered along the way.
